A VIGNETTE FROM 'ABBY' IN THE LIES WE LIVE
“Yeah, so, now my brother had something he could hold over me,” Abby summed up, warming up her coffee. “Except, he didn’t tell me that he was the one who walked in.”
“When did you figure out it was your brother who came into your room?” Steph asked.
“When he blurted it out to my parents over an argument about me not taking him to the movie theater, the next weekend, for some chick-flick I was going to go see with some friends.”
“Makes me glad that I was the only kid,” Steph muttered, loudly.
Abby nodded her head in agreement, “Sure would have been helpful in this situation.”
“So, to get even, he blabbed?”
“Yeah, my parents sided with me about not taking him with so he had an absolute meltdown,” Abby shared, reaching for a napkin to wipe the corners of her eyes. “Almost immediately, he blurted out what he had walked in on, and the conversation turned, quickly.”
“I bet it did!” Steph said, warming up her coffee again. “What did you say? What did your parents say?”
“I was dumbfounded. My jaw hit the floor. I had no idea it was him who walked into my bedroom… It didn’t even register.”
